Freshwater pearls are pearls that are grown and created with mussels in freshwater. They are mainly produced in Japan and the United States on a limited scale, now they are produced almost exclusively in China.
Dark-colored pearls are obtained spontaneously, when a grain of sand or foreign body is inserted into the black-lipped oyster and the mollusk, if it is not able to expel it, protects itself from this foreign body by coating it with layers of mother-of-pearl that will have this coloring.
