New Tutorial: How to Create "Halo" Earrings in Circular Peyote Stitch
Hello, bead and creative jewelry lovers!
Today I am very happy to bring you a long-awaited novelty to the blog. I have just uploaded a new video tutorial to our YouTube channel where I teach you step-by-step how to bring an elegant, light design with perfect symmetry to life. I present the "Halo" Earrings.
These are circular earrings with a final diameter of about 2.5 cm, perfect for adding a touch of light to your face. The best thing about this design is its versatility: it is a completely adaptable pattern. Once you learn the technique, you can make an infinite number of versions, larger or smaller, simply by varying the number of beads at the beginning or experimenting with endless combinations of colors and sizes.
The Materials: Miyuki Quality and Color Codes
To achieve the precision, rigidity, and impeccable finish that characterize these earrings, I have fully relied on the uniformity of the Miyuki brand. If you want to achieve exactly the same finish you see in the photos and video, these are the materials and exact references I used:
-
Miyuki 15/0 Seed Beads: Color 4202 (Duracoat Galvanized Gold).
-
Miyuki Delicas 11/0: Combining colors DB1847F (Duracoat Galv. Frosted Seafoam) and DB1832 (Duracoat Galvanized Gold).
-
Earring hooks: Shepherd hook style in gold finish.
-
Miyuki Thread and beading needle.
The Technique: Circular Peyote, Step by Step
In this tutorial, we will delve into the exciting world of circular peyote stitch. It's an ideal project whether you've already mastered the technique or want to perfect it, as it includes a very interesting setup and closure.
How do we structure them?
-
The Base: We start by making a base strip of even-count peyote with 75 15/0 seed beads.
-
The Body: From there, we close it in a circle and continue weaving in circular peyote using the 15/0 seed beads first, and then introducing the 11/0 Delicas to create relief and color contrast.
-
The Finish: When we complete all the necessary rows to give consistency to the earring, we join both ends using the impeccable "zipper" closure, achieving an invisible join and a professional finish.
In the video, I guide you meticulously through each round, showing where to perform the key steps so that the circle remains flat and perfect, without rippling.
