Are you looking for a fun and creative way to express yourself through your accessories? Do you love making your own custom and unique jewelry? If so, look no further! In this tutorial we will teach you how to create your own hoop earrings using the Brick Stitch technique with Miyuki Delica beads in size 11/0.
Material used
Before you begin, make sure you have all the necessary materials on hand. Here is a list of the materials used in this project:
- Miyuki Delica beads in size 11/0. I used the colors “Duracoat Galvanized Gold” , “Opaque Avocado” , “Opaque Sea Opal” , “Opaque Salmon” and “Opaque Light Mint”
- Nymo B thread
- Needle
- Hoop earring holder I have used them in gold, but depending on the colors of your pattern you can also use them in silver.
- Hippie Hooks
- Scissors
- Pliers
Step 1: Prepare your beads and thread
Start by selecting the Miyuki Delica beads you want to use in your earrings. You can choose just one color or combine several to create a pattern. Once you have selected your beads, cut a piece of Nymo B thread approximately 1.50 m long and thread a needle through one end.
Step 2: Start knitting the pattern
Now it's time to start weaving your beads. First, secure the end of the thread to the earring holder with a couple of knots, the first one being double. Next, start weaving the Brick Stitch pattern around the hoop, adding the beads one by one, except in the first step we'll add two.
To do this, thread the first two beads and place them in position, then thread the thread around the hoop and pass the needle back from bottom to top through the second bead that you have threaded. Then, thread the next bead and do the same, that is, thread the thread through the hoop and then back out from bottom to top through this bead. Continue in this way until you have completed the first row of beads.
Step 3: Continue knitting the pattern
Once you have completed the first row, continue to weave the Brick Stitch pattern. To do this, you will need to thread the thread through the second bead in the first row. Next, thread two new beads, place them in position, and thread the needle through the thread between the second and third beads in the row below, then from bottom to top through the second bead you just threaded. Then, insert the needle into the next bead, place it in position, thread the needle through the thread below, and thread the thread back up through this bead.
Repeat this process until you have completed the entire row and do the same for a third row. Make sure that the beads are tightly pressed and that they stay in place.
Step 4: Finish the weaving
Once you have completed the bead pattern around the hoop, hide the ends of the thread by sewing them in a Zig-Zag pattern through the beads and cut off the excess thread.
Step 5: Add the hippie hooks
Finally, add the hippie hooks to your hoop earrings. To do this, use the pliers to open the loop of the hook and hook it to the earring holder at the top of the hoop. Repeat this process on the second earring and that's it! You will now have your own hoop earrings with Miyuki Delica beads finished.
Remember that you can customize your earrings using different bead colors and patterns, so experiment and have fun creating unique designs!
