Share
In this tutorial you will learn how to make a beautiful “Rhombus Ring” with Miyuki seed beads and DiamonDuo beads! Of course, I will also show you how to use the herringbone technique to create a strong and durable structure with Miyuki seed beads in size 11/0.
If you're not already familiar with them, DiamonDuo beads are two-hole, diamond-shaped glass beads that are commonly used in beaded jewelry creations. They were designed by the Czech bead company, Potomac Bead Company, and are very popular among bead lovers as they are used in so many projects.
DiamonDuo beads are available in a wide variety of colors and finishes, including shiny, matte and iridescent finishes, making them very versatile for different jewelry projects. They also have a flat, smooth surface that gives them a very elegant and modern appearance.
Official tutorial from the Miyuki brand on how the Herringbone technique is structured when applied to the beads of their own brand.
The herringbone technique, also known as the fishbone technique, is a bead weaving technique commonly used in beaded jewelry and in the creation of decorative objects. In this technique, beads are woven together in a staggered pattern to create a strong and flexible structure.
In the herringbone technique, two parallel foundation bead strands are first created and then beads are added between them. The beads are added in pairs, with one bead on each foundation strand. More beads are then added to the pattern, staggering the beads as they are added to create a zigzag pattern that resembles a fish bone.
The herringbone technique can be done in a single row or in multiple rows, allowing for the creation of three-dimensional structures. In addition, a wide variety of bead sizes and types can be used, allowing for greater flexibility in creating jewelry and costume jewelry designs.
One advantage of the herringbone technique is that it creates a very strong and durable structure, as the beads are woven together at multiple points. Additionally, the staggered pattern of the beads creates an interesting textured surface in the weave, making it a popular technique for creating unique and beautiful jewelry designs.
In our case, the first thing we will have to create is a chain of 39 rows of two seed beads using the Herringbone technique.
After having the first chain finished, we are going to make the other part of the ring. We are also going to make two rows of seed beads and in the center we will leave a space where we will place the DiamonDuo Beads. We will attach the new rows of two seed beads to the ones we already had.
In the center of the ring we will not attach the new rows of seed beads to the ones we already had so that we have the space where we will place the DiamonDuo beads. In rows 13 and 26 we will leave the space for the DiamonDuo beads. Once we have all the seed beads placed we can close the ring.
And when we have finished the base of the ring with the seed beads, we can place the DiamonDuo beads that will fit perfectly in the space we had reserved for them. And we would have finished our original ring with DiamonDuo beads. I hope you liked it and that you are encouraged to make it.
I also leave you here the video where you can see the whole process in more detail.
