Diagram of making a Turkish Knot Ring
Turkish Knot Ring:
Materials:
– 1.10 meters of 1.5mm thick leather or the thread you want to use to make the ring (it is recommended that you start by practicing with “rat tail” thread).
Depending on how many turns we want to make on the ring, we will need more or less cord. For a ring with 4 turns we will need 1.10m.
– A metal bead that will serve as an ornament.
– A cork board.
– Pins.
– A tube of the thickness we want our ring to be (e.g.: Lipstick).
Step 1:
Make a loop with the thread and secure it to the cork with the pins.
Step 2:
Form a loop around, above the cord loop and then below the center cord.
Step 3:
Make a new loop and pass the cord under the right side and over it. Then under and over the bottom loop on the right.
Step 4:
Make a loop below and follow the same path as before from where the short cord starts.
Step 5:
Follow the loops all the way around so that the cord is doubled.
Adjust the thread.
Step 6:
Follow the same path again to triple the cord (we will close the loops). This ring can be made with different numbers of turns, depending on the thickness of the cord and our tastes.
If we wish, we can decorate our ring with a metal bead that we will insert when making the last turn with the cord.
We can also use different colored cords for the same ring.
Step 7:
We will use a tube (e.g. lipstick) to shape our ring and thus go from a flat knot to a circular knot.
Step 8:
Once we have completed the path of the cord through our ring, we will cut the excess ends and glue the threads to the inside of the ring.
